Monica Davis is a violinist

and violist who enjoys a multifaceted performance career based in New York City. A sought after collaborator, her playing has been described as "refined and attractive" by The New York Times.

In the summer of 2018 she will join choreographer Jodi Melnick in repeat performances of her work, New Bodies, choreographed for NYCB principal dancer Sara Mearns. Other dance collaborations include performances with Trainor Dance, Rioult Dance NY, the Mark Morris Dance Student Company, and Barnard Dance. In addition to this work, Monica has shared the stage with a number of singers, songwriters, and composers. She has toured with Rostam, Regina Spektor, and Diana Ross and recorded for film, television and artists including Bon Iver, José James, Alicia Keys, Michel Legrand, Billy Ocean, and Steven Van Zandt. Monica is a frequent guest musician with composer Jason Robert Brown. She has performed often on his residency at Subculture (NY) and appears on his new album.

Monica performs with Wordless Music Orchestra, Uptown Philharmonic and subs with the New Jersey Symphony. She is a mainstay in New York's theatrical scene having performed in over 15 broadway and off-broadway shows. She was an original member of the bands for Rocky the Musical, Honeymoon in Vegas, and Anastasia on broadway and is currently concertmaster of the new broadway show Mean Girls. 

Monica holds a Masters Degree in violin performance from The Manhattan School of Music where she studied with Laurie Smukler and Curtis Macomber as well as a Bachelors Degree in history from Columbia University.

She plays on a violin made in 2015 by Christopher Thorp.
