Violinist and violist, Monica Davis enjoys a multifaceted freelance career. She has played in over 15 broadway shows and is currently a member of the band for the hit broadway musical, Anastasia. A member of the Tony Awards orchestra since 2015, she appeared live from Radio City in the2017 broadcast.
A long term resident of New York City, Monica has had the privilege to record for film, television, and with artists including Michael Jackson, Alicia Keys, Billy Ocean, and Darlene Love. This year she toured North America and the UK with the critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Regina Spektor. Monica has also toured with pop icon Diana Ross and performed on Saturday Night Live, Live from Lincoln Center, The Ellen Show, The Today Show, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert with multiple artists including, Pearl Jam, Bette Midler, Paloma Faith, Audra McDonald, Ben Platt, Sam Smith, Michael Buble, and Sharon Jones.
Also an avid chamber musician whose playing was described as “refined and attractive” by The New York Times, Monica is the first violinist of the contemporary string quartet, Osso, and has also enjoyed performances with the Saratoga and Harlem Chamber Players. In June she collaborated with pianist Robert Boston and Mark Morris Dance Student Company.This summer she is also looking forward to her first appearance at the Bard Music Festival with the American Symphony Orchestra, as well as performances with the New Jersey Symphony at the Cone Composition Institute, and Wordless Music Orchestra's return to Brooklyn.
Monica received her bachelor’s degree in American History as a Kluge Scholar at Columbia University and went on to gain her master's degree in Violin Performance from the Manhattan School of Music. Her teachers have included Laurie Smukler, Phil Setzer, Mickey Reisman and Teri Einfeldt.
